Watching The Champions League Final In Senegal🇸🇳
Intro
With immigration done at Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport, it was time to head off downtown to Dakar. The thing about me when I enter a new place is that I usually have no plans where I am going. As I sat around in the back of a taxi for an hour and a half, I realized that the Champions League Final was in a couple of hours 😉.
Vini Junior
The taxi driver dropped me off on the side of the road, and with no idea where I was going or what I was doing, I managed to google a sports bar a couple of hundred meters away.
As it would turn out, I arrived right in time for kickoff. The bar was relatively busy, and the energy was beautiful. With my dodgy French, I managed to talk a little bit with a guy who had moved from the Ivory Coast to Dakar. We sat around and watched the game, as Madrid took victory 2-0 over Dortmund.
One of the most surprising experiences was when this guy bought me multiple beers. As I mentioned before, I had planned to spend my time in Dakar, seeing sights and walking around. Little did I know that I wouldn't be home until 4 am 😂.
But the most beautiful experience was when Vinicius scored. If you watched the game, you would know that Vini had this new celebration. Within minutes, the kids in the bar were doing the exact same celebration, dancing around the whole bar.
Final Thoughts
This was one of the more special moments on my Africa trip, primarily due to the hospitality I was shown by every person. Senegal surprised me a lot, as you'll find out soon with my post on going out (in a good way). I had a lovely time watching the Champions League Final here, and might just go back next year😅.
