United Now Offers Dynamic Preorder For All Polaris Flights
Intro
It's about bloody (the English coming out in me) time that United Airlines was able to let passengers choose which pre-order they so desired. American Airlines and Delta Airlines have long had the upper hand, as passengers looking to pre-order meals in advance have been allowed to choose any of the choices onboard, regardless of the onboard supply. United had fallen behind but has now caught up!
The Details
As of January 2025, all confirmed United Polaris passengers will have the opportunity to pre-select a meal from 5 days in advance until 24 hours before departure. Before this, United would allocate a certain number of dishes per flight, which passengers could select while the quantity remained. However, if the whole 48 passengers on a 787-9 want the short rib, UA will now grant their wishes for the delectable dish 😉.
While United has previously rolled this concept out for the past year or so across select routes, only now have all routes been granted this privilege. In the past few years of religiously flying United, I never encountered an issue, but many people have.
My Thoughts
I'll make this quick: this should have been done years ago to match American and Delta. However, I will say that there is an ongoing trend at United to up their onboard business class offering. Heck, they have now introduced LP into Business Class, which is a very decent champagne offering.
Final Thoughts
If you happen to be flying Polaris in the future, United has just announced that all routes will now have dynamic pre-order selection for meals. This is a huge win, as there were previous reports indicating pre-orders "selling out".
