Transfer Citi Points To Flying Blue, Air France- KLM With 25% Bonus
Intro
In the past year, we haven't seen a deal quite like this. The CitiThankYou program is now allowing you to transfer points to Flying Blue with a 25% bonus through August 17th, 2024.
While this can represent a fantastic deal, let's discuss it a little bit further in detail.
The Deal
This bonus first came into effect on July 21st and will last until August 17th. An important aspect to note is that this is solely on the US end and cannot be done overseas.
Usually, like most programs, not all programs' points transfer at a 1 to 1 ratio from Citi to FlyingBlue. Now, these points will transfer at 1:1.250 for the next 25 odd days. This means you could fly business class from North America to Europe for 40,000 points with the bonus. That isn't too bad.
With a family of 4, you could fly roundtrip to Europe for 320,000 points...
Speculative Transfer?
Ordinarily, I would say don't transfer points over, but a 25% bonus is quite a good bonus. If you are someone who saves points for a big trip and still haven't planned it, I wouldn't transfer during this period, as miles can constantly depreciate. However, if you are someone who is travelling quote frequently around Asia in the near future, there are some great redemptions to be had there...
If you were to fly from Jakarta to Hong Kong in Business Class with Garuda, you would only have to transfer 23,000 points over to make this work. Wow! The best part is that there is wide open award space!
Final Thoughts
Citi ThankYou program has started its latest transfer bonus with a 25% bonus. If you happen to have a huge stockpile and are traveling around Asia, this could be a good opportunity. If you happen to have some flights ready to book, this is another great opportunity. However, be careful, as FlyingBlue award prices are dynamic. This transfer bonus will last until the 17th of August, so don't worry; you have some time to decide🙂
