Intro
For those who are into booking business class with points, like myself, Aeromexico has just announced their latest transfer partnership with American Express, and it might have some** good value for certain routes.
The Details
Between April 1st and April 30th, those with American Express Points can transfer between the two programs and receive a 20% increase in miles. Ordinarily, Amex transfers to Aeromexico at a 1:1.6 ratio, but factoring in the new bonus, one would get a much better valuation of 1:1.92.

Worth The Transfer?
While the onboard product of Aeromexico isn't bad in business class, the problem lies with their frequent flyer program. On paper, there are some decent redemptions to be had, such as 36,000 to the USA, which now becomes 20,000 Amex points, but with high cancelation fees, problems with customer service, and fuel surcharges, it's entirely up to you if you want to open that can of worms.
The one thing I will say is that if you are able to find saver space on an off-peak date to New York on their 787-9, that just might be worth it. Other than that, Aeromexico typically offers decent fares on Ex-European routes, and if flying to Japan, look towards Flying Blue for that redemption.
Final Thoughts
If you are thinking of heading down to Mexico soon and have some spare American Express points lying around, Amex has just announced that when you transfer your points to Aeromexico, you will receive a 20% bonus. If you can find saver space on an off-peak date on a widebody Ex-USA, this might be a good redemption. Other than that, I might steer clear and look at Flying Blue...
