The Swaggiest Ways I've Gotten To An Airport

Intro

I recently shared a review of RwandAir Economy class from Kigali to Johannesburg, where I talked about how I rode to the airport on a motorbike. I figured there are many modes of transport when it comes to heading to an airport, but how many have I really done?

Most people heading to an airport will traditionally either take a car, a bus, or perhaps a shared van. Well, I'm here to say that there are some really cool ways to get to an airport. Let me show you!

Walking To An Airport

Down in Belize City in Belize, there is an airport located less than a km away from downtown called the municipal airport. If you happen to be staying close by, like I was, this is one of the few airports I have been to that you are able to walk to!

Motorbike To The Airport

Another interesting experience that I had was one that can be found in plenty of places all over the world. Riding a motorbike to the airport isn't exactly common in first-world countries and usually would only work if you have a backpack. However, if you find yourself in SE Asia, Africa, or the Middle East, this is something that you could do that could also save you plenty of money!

Taking A Helicopter To The Airport

A long time ago, when it was slightly cheaper, I had the opportunity to try out Blade from Manhattan over to Newark. At the time, I paid 149$ for the flight, which also happened to be private (it was just as Covid started). I have to say that Blade executed this service perfectly, and I wish I could do it more regularly.

There was another time I took a helicopter right next to a private jet, but that was a long time ago, and we don't talk about it (a friend invited me on holiday).

TukTuk To The Airport

The last one, and probably the most fun way I have ever gotten to an airport, is in a Tuktuk. I've actually done this a couple of times, but the most memorable is taking a TukTuk to Vilnakulo airport in Mozambique. There is something so free and calming about sitting in the back of a TukTuk, and it is cheap 😂.

Final Thoughts

When most people head to the airport, the typical way would be through a car/bus/shuttle. However, if provided an option on your next trip, definitely choose one of these options if they are available and have a budget (helicopter). These four ways of getting to an airport were my most memorable experiences, not a car or shuttle.
