Thai Airways Adds Second Daily Flight To Denpasar, Bali
Intro
Okay, I know that I am very late to the part on this one, but Thai Airways has added a second daily service from Bangkok to Denpasar as of October 27th, 2024. With Bali on the rise, I can see why this makes a lot of sense.
The Details
The Star Alliance carrier will now be serving the tourist hotspot with twice-daily service year-round. The schedule for both flights is as follows:
TG431: Bangkok-Denpasar departing at 8:50 am arriving at 14:15 local time
TG432: Denpasar-Bangkok departing at 16:10 arriving at 19:25 local time
New service:
TG439: Bangkok-Denpasar departing at 12:35 arriving at 19:00 local time
TG440: Denpasar-Bangkok departing at 19:00 arriving at 22:15 local time
It's interesting to see that this second daily service (the evening departure) will be operated by an A320. This is the first time Thai Airways has deployed a narrowbody to Denpasar or Jakarta, but there must be connective demand in the economy to initiate this second daily route.
My Thoughts
Bali is nothing like what it used to be like years ago in terms of popularity. Airlines have expanded rapidly, with over 15 international destinations serving Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, and much more. Thai Airways has clearly seen that there must be some serious demand on this route, as they have gone ahead and added a second daily frequency. The timeline coincides with Europe redeyes on the return from DPS, which is why I think this route works out.
Thai Airways continues to grow its network, and it's growing rapidly. We have seem recently announced that they have ordered upwards of 60 dreamliners and that they plane to retrofit the A320s with a Business Class cabin. One has to wonder if Thai Airways is perhaps returning to its glory days.
Final Thoughts
While old news, Thai Airways has launched a second daily service from Bangkok to Denpasar on a year-round basis. Unfortunately, the one downside is that this route will be operated by a narrowbody, unlike the other frequency in the market.
