Taking The Star Ferry From Hong Kong Island To Kowloon
Intro
During my time in Hong Kong, I had the opportunity to experience plenty of activities ranging from munching on some pizza express to getting suits made to take the Star Island ferry for my suit fitting😅.
If you happen to end up in Hong Kong on vacation, taking the Star Island ferry is a short but fun activity to do on a beautiful day.
Let's get into the details!
The Ride
The Star Island ferry operates from Kowloon to two different destinations on Hong Kong Island from 6:30 am-11:30 pm. If you want to ride it out of Hong Kong Island, head down to either Central Pier or Wan Chai.
My ticket for the journey costs about 4$ from the Central Pier on Hong Kong Island to Kowloon. Within minutes of purchasing my ticket, the ferry was ready to depart.
Once our tickets were verified, we pushed off for the sub-10-minute journey across the river. The views out of Hong Kong were simply beautiful and worth going out of my way just to take the ferry.
This is why I love Asia; everything is just so much prettier here. Even the boats have more decoration and don't look sterile compared to the USA.
Roughly 10 minutes later, we arrived in Kowloon! The ferry terminal puts you out relatively close to all of the local markets and such. Therefore, I was able to walk over to my suit appointment and enjoy a whiskey during my fitting!
Final Thoughts
If you happen to be on business in Hong Kong, I wouldn't recommend the ferry as the most efficient option between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. However, if you are looking for a scenic way to get between the two, definitely try out the Star Ferry, as I had a fantastic time!
