Spending A Night In Rome: Colosseum, Boutique Hotel, And Fantastic Food

Intro

The next city on my tour around the world would be Rome. Having never been to Italy, I was extremely excited to visit this city, not only because of the food but also because of the energy of Rome, from what I have heard, which is remarkable. After landing at 8:30 pm from Cairo onboard the ITA A321neo, I didn't have much time to explore the town, but I made the most of it!

Eat Drink Love >3

Landing a bit late from the flight prior, I knew I had one thing going in my favor: Italians eat dinner later than Western countries. By 10 pm, I was enjoying some of the best pasta I have ever had in my life, and I even ordered a whole margarita pizza. Having never had authentic Italian pizza and pasta, my word was this absolutely outrageously good.

Pasta in Rome, Italy

In comparison to certain other places in the world, prices were very reasonable, with a half bottle of Chianti going for about 8 euros. Gosh, I love Italy already!

The biggest aspect of eating out in Italy was the people I observed. It was a Wednesday, and multiple families were around just enjoying and having a good time with good food. It makes me want to bring some of that culture to the US, although I am not sure that will ever happen.

Sadly, I was so stuffed that I couldn't make room for dessert.😅

A Boutique Hotel

Honestly, I was planning to do a full review of the hotel I stayed at in Rome, but I was so exhausted that I barely had any pictures. Following the amazing dinner, I walked the mile or so with my bags over to the cute hotel I was staying in.

I didn't realize that hotel rooms in Rome are quite small by standard. I spoke to a friend who lives there who confirmed it, but I guess it just never quite clicked. All in all, I was so shattered that I went straight to sleep for 6 hours...

Until the 5 am alarm went off; at this point, I was contemplating my life decision on why I didn't take the later ITA flight over to New York, but since I wanted to fly the ex-Alitalia aircraft, I had to get moving.

I had one thing which I wanted to do in Rome: see the Colosseum. The rest of my family had beaten me to it, so I decided to walk over at 5:30 am to the Colosseum and check out this extraordinary piece of architecture. Yes, I didn't get to go inside since it wasn't open, but being in the presence for the 20 minutes I was there was remarkable.

The Colosseum

Now, with my visit to the Colosseum, I have been to 5/7 World Wonders at the moment, including Machu Picchu, Christ The Redeemer, Chichen Itza, and the Taj Mahal. Only Petra and the Great Wall of China remain!

Final Thoughts

This was my first time in Italy, and I absolutely loved every second of being in Rome. Sure, I would have loved to explore Naples and some of the other towns, but that'll happen in its own due time. With fantastic food, a cute boutique hotel, and visiting the Colosseum, I'd say I certainly made use of my time in Rome.
