Spending 4 Consecutive Nights On A Plane. Here Is What Happened

Intro

Well, I finally have made it to Bali after the craziest routing I have ever done (and probably the dumbest). The past 4 nights have been filled with sleeping on planes, and the days have been filled with exploring the towns of Warsaw, Dhaka, Bangkok, and Seoul.

Dhaka Bangladesh

With that being said, I will be having trip reports of all of the eight flights in the coming months. However, for now, I will explain what it did to my body and why I wouldn't recommend it to most people.

My Body Was Destroyed

By the end of my third day in Bangladesh, I was completely destroyed. You know the feeling of being overtired, but don't feel that tired because you are so tired. Yeah, it was that. I ended up passing out in a dining chair in the Eva Lounge in Bangkok, but an alarm didn't even wake me up. Luckily, someone came over to wake me up since my alarm was going off (my sincerest apologies).

Eva Airlines 787-10 Business Class

That night was the worst, with an ATC delay out of Bangkok and a short 3.5-hour red-eye over to Taipei. Upon landing in Seoul that day (after the flight from Taipei), I fell asleep sitting upright in a taxi.

By day 2, my circadian rhythm was destroyed to the point where I actually didn't know what day or time it was. It was a very strange feeling but quite invigorating.

The Good Parts

Being a full-time student in college, trying to visit every country in the world, and trying to build this blog up and up means I need to condense travel into shorter periods than most. An ordinary five-week trip becomes one week, and so on.

Aeroplan got me going on a sweet redemption, which allowed me to be on lie-flat beds for all of these routes. That was certainly a huge bonus for spending four nights straight on a plane. I am not sure I would have made it in an economy seat if I am being honest.

Thai 777-200 Business Class

It's always nice to experience amazing service, such as on Thai Airways from Dhaka to Bangkok. However, there was always some extremely rude service from EVA Air, which I will touch on in the future.

Lastly, I got really lucky since a lot of the flights I was on were not full. It makes a big difference when there is a full cabin versus an empty cabin on a flight. This meant being able to stretch out and make myself at home without bothering a neighbor.

Final Thoughts

Unless you really enjoy flying, I wouldn't recommend spending four nights on a plane. The lack of a circadian rhythm and constantly changing time zones do catch up with you. However, if you are like me and enjoy flying, this is quite a fun "vacation in the sky," albeit with quite a few takeoffs and landings.

Would I do it again? Absolutely! Would I do it again tomorrow? Probably not😂. Although stay tuned, as the adventure back from Bali is coming up, but that is only half as crazy.
