Smoking 🚬 That United Upgrade Pack

It's been a very good first year for me as 1K, clearing upgrades like no tomorrow, both complimentary and Plus Points. Well, things just got a whole lot better...

2 CPUS In 1 Day

As I was working on my essay yesterday afternoon, around 5 pm (studying for my exam), I received a text from United Airlines stating that my upgrade had cleared on a nice 4-hour flight from San Diego to Chicago. Usually, as a 1K member, I am lucky if I clear 24 hours prior on routes more than an hour, so to receive this text 99.5 hours prior to departure was almost unheard of...

And if things couldn't get better, the next morning I logged in to United Airlines to check about the next leg to Toronto, and found that I had been upgraded to First on that leg as well!

Not bad

So in all honesty, these are small run-of-the-mill upgrades, but being able to select a meal, select a seat, and enjoy the experience in First Class is why I am loyal to United Airlines.

Why I Like United

A long time ago, I was an avid United and Star Alliance hater. Growing up, my family was Oneworld flyers, with my father having the infamous black card, and my mum being a concierge key on AA. However, over the years, I have realized that I think United Airlines is the way forward for me. With a somewhat consistent long-haul business class (because of the new widebodies coming soon), and the loyalty to their customers, there is a reason why I like flying with UA.

Also, apologies for the title: my brain has been in essay mode all day and found it funny.

Final Thoughts

I'm heading to London this weekend and in the process, checking out the Signature Suite in Toronto. To get there, I decided to fly United through Chicago, and both of my upgrades cleared on mileage tickets, not bad. While other carriers might offer the same upgrades, I've never received them (since 2012), so shoutout to United!
