Review: Unique Mine Lofts Bogota

Intro

Following my terrific flight onboard Volaris from Costa Rica, I spent two nights in country 78, Colombia! For my stay, I was looking at a couple of different options around Parque 93 and eventually decided on Unique Mine Lofts due to the price and location. The other options consisted of the Hilton which was nearby, or an Airbnb.

The total cost came out to 58$ per night for my stay, which is a bargain for this hotel, in my opinion! The booking was made through booking.com, due to my status with OneKey.

Location

The Unique Mine Loft apartments are perfectly located a 25-minute drive from El Dorado airport, a 5-minute drive from multiple good restaurants, and 6 minutes from downtown Parque 93.

It's located by a roundabout, which means driving in a loop to get to the front door. By the end of this, I just told the Uber drivers to stop and I walked 10 seconds instead of driving an extra 2 minutes😅.

The Rooms

After finally being allowed to check in, right at 3 pm, I made my way up to the room. They were quite stingy on check-in times, it does note that check-in is 3 so I am not complaining. It's just a note if you are staying here. I digress, the elevators were nice and efficient most importantly!

Bogota Drip

Upon entering my room, I found a little work desk and a small, comfortable couch for relaxing. Much like with my room in San Jose, there was no air conditioning but a fan was provided!

Living area

Opposite the living area was a small kitchenette consisting of the basics needed to have a few light meals at home. While this is not practical for living year-round, I found it to be a nice touch with the plates, cutlery, and cups provided.

There was also a single bottle of complementary drinking water in the fridge as I had heard that it's best to stay away from tap water. Apparently, it is safe in Bogota, but can sometimes cause an upset tummy for those who haven't had it before.

Kitchenette

It's a perfect kitchenette for leftovers, as the microwave worked well.

Moving on, I found the bedroom. There was no door separating the two rooms but it still felt quite private. Honestly, the room was a little bit small but the bed was extremely comfortable. About the same size as Singapore Suites aye?

Decorations made the room aesthetically pleasing, while the rest of the room seemed functional. US charging ports were next to the bed, as well as phone and a side table to store your laptop or similar items at night.

Looking straight out from the bed was the bathroom. Once again, it wasn't over the top, but it was functional. A simple sink was there and I ended up using soap from the shower.

Bathroom Unique Mine Lofts

The shower worked well with a constant flow of nice hot water. Two bath towels and one hand towel were provided.

Lastly, there was a toilet.

All in all, the room seemed to be comfortable and functional. There was no culture to it, but for under 60$ per night, who am I to complain?

Let's go explore the restaurant!

Rooftop Restaurant

The highlight of the hotel was the rooftop restaurant. Since I arrived at about 11:15 am and wasn't allowed to check-in until 3 pm, I headed up to the rooftop bar and immediately fell in love. This is where I ended up writing essays, editing vlogs, and writing articles for this blog!

Isn't it gorgeous?

Like a 5 star dining experience

The vibe was very laid back with music playing and live sports matches.

There was options for indoor and outdoor seating, of course, I partook in both😅.

Pristine

I decided to have a Club Colombia and a Pulled Pork Sandwich for lunch on the first day. The cost of a beer is about 10,000 Colombian, and the sandwich cost 30,000. Not a bad deal at all.

Simple delicious

When in Colombia one must drink Aguardiente. Aguardiente was a little bit more expensive than I thought with a shot being 23,000 and a shot of Havana Club (rum) coming out to 25,000.

Simple put, incredible

Other Facilities

Unique Mine Lofts also offers a gym and a pool for those wondering. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to check those out as Bogota was roaring to be explored!

Final Thoughts

Considering the price I paid, I think Unique Mine Lofts offers terrific value for a longer-term workspace with comfortable beds, an in-room desk area, and a fantastic rooftop bar to get work done. However, when I go back to Bogota (might be quite soon) I won't stay here again due to the lack of feel to this hotel. It does the job but at the same time is quite sterile.

Next time I head to Bogota, though, I plan to check out the Four Seasons Casa Medina, the Four Seasons I have been trying for the last few years. If I were planning around the same budget, I would either take a look at an Airbnb or the Hilton in Parque 93.

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you for the review of Avianca Premium Economy tomorrow!
