Review: Hotel Pension Rapmund, Swakopmund, Namibia
Intro
Once enjoying some Springbok pizza at Ankerplatz restaurant, the next mission was to find a hotel to stay at for the night. Originally, my plan was to head out to a ranch to relax for a couple of days, but the plans quickly switched to having a night out in Swakopmund. I messaged the host of the ranch, and he was happy to switch my stay to the night tomorrow.
Walking along the streets of Swakopmund, I came across a little boutique hotel named "Hotel Pension." Located near the beach and at a reasonable rate of 60$ per night, I decided to pull the trigger.

The Property
The property in itself isn’t much, but as they say, you get what you pay for. The location is perhaps the best part of the property, as the hotel is located a 5-minute walk to town (depending on where you are going) and 5 minutes in the other direction to the docks. By the docks is where you will find most of the beachside restaurants, as well as, of course, the beach 😅.
There are a couple of outdoor parts of the property, such as a garden and a smoking zone. Additionally, there is a small restaurant inside by check-in that features free breakfast and, most importantly, FREE COFFEE.
Free and fast wifi is provided to customers as well. If you are interested in a tour such as ATV or safari, the hosts at the front are more than happy to help arrange this. Originally, I was going to go skydiving, but things changed thanks to Rabies Vaccines and other shenanigans.

The Rooms
The aspect that most impressed me about this hotel was the rooms. At 60$ per night, I wasn’t expecting an extravagant and modern room, but that is exactly what I got. The decorations throughout the room were a modern beach vibe; think of the Hamptons as an example (perhaps it was a taste of home). The bathroom featured a lovely shower, which provided unlimited hot water (a scarcity on this trip), as well as a fully functioning toilet.
It was the bed that did it for me. Although it was two twin beds combined, I slept the best I had slept all trip; it was that comfortable. Do you know when the bed sheets are perfect, and the mattress is just the perfect firmness? That was exactly what happened.

Final Thoughts
If you are heading to Swakopmund and are looking for a last-minute, simple, and cheap place to stay, Hotel Pension fits the bill perfectly. However, if you are planning your trip in advance, there are so many nicer options to choose from which I would recommend even more, and thus I cannot fully recommend this hotel. For a single night in Swakopmund, it does perfectly, with free Wi-Fi, a comfortable bed, unlimited hot water, and a great location.
