Review: CIP Orchid Lounge Terminal 2 Da Nang
Intro
Following a fantastic trip in Vietnam and a phenomenal stay at the Four Seasons in Hoi An, it was finally time to head home to Bali (what I consider to be home).
For this portion, we will be looking at the CIP Orchid Lounge in Terminal 2 of Da Nang. While the lounge is aesthetically pleasing, the food and drink left quite a bit to desire.
Let's get into it!
Location+Access
The CIP Orchid Lounge is located in the international terminal, aka terminal 2. Once security and immigration are cleared, there will be clear signs indicating where the lounge is located. There are stairs and an elevator, depending on your preference. I always try to walk before a flight to get the blood flowing.
The Orchid Lounge is said to be open 24 hours a day, although I haven't seen this personally as I was there around 4 pm.
It is quite easy to gain access to this lounge:
Priority pass is accepted here
Day passes are sold for 25$ per person at the door
Certain airlines will offer free access to this lounge, such as the airline I was flying on, Singapore Airlines
Seating
Once entering the lounge, there is a multitude of spaces available to sit. For a priority pass lounge, I thought that they did a fantastic job in terms of seating space.
Including these small cubbies for extra privacy if you need to get some work done or make a call.
Throughout the lounge, there are a couple of different rooms. The main room is the furthest away from the entrance but is gorgeous.
My favorite part of the lounge was the little center tables featuring MacBooks! This is a fantastic addition that provides ample privacy.
Here is a better picture I found online:
Throughout the lounge, there are other more basic seating options, such as dining seating, if that is your thing.
Food and Drink
Even if the Orchid Lounge provides comfortable and private seating, it really lacks in terms of food and drink.
For starters, the only alcohol offered is beer in the lounge. There was no wine, spirits, or anything else during my time there. I think for a business-class lounge, this is certainly lackluster.
There is a buffet featuring rice and a few other hot options. Sadly, during my one day there, it was closed, so I grabbed a quick photo from the internet for readers.
Other people who have reviewed this lounge indicated that the food was decent, but since it was close, I can't rate the food offerings well.
Service
The service at the Orchid Lounge is completely adequate. It wasn't anything like the service in the private room or anything, but then again, it's a different audience. The staff were happy to answer any questions I had surrounding the lounge, like if they had any wine🤔.
Once exiting the lounge, I found a cute little outdoor area overlooking the terminal. I don't recommend coming out here as it has the noisiness of the terminal. However, if the lounge is full inside for some reason, this could be another option.
Other Amenities
Free wifi was offered throughout the lounge, but for some reason didn't work in the toilet😂. Speaking of toilets, there were toilets available in the lounge right between the main room and the dining room.
Showers were also available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
Final Thoughts
The Orchid Lounge in Terminal 2 has the potential to be a great lounge. At the moment, the hard product is sublime, with modern seating, showers, nice toilets, and Macbooks in semi-private booths. However, the lack of alcohol options and food being closed during my time there let the lounge review a little down.
