Quick Review: Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Hong Kong
Intro
Following a disappointment at the Plaza Premium First Lounge in Hong Kong, I decided to leave a bit earlier than boarding to check out the Singapore Airlines Business Class Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport.
For starters, wow, this lounge is just so much better than the other star alliance lounges at Hong Kong airport. For one, it actually has air conditioning! Along with the fact that there is barista coffee, lots of sleek seating, and it didn't suffer from overcrowding, this is where I am visiting next time instead. However, it's by nowhere near the means of a good lounge for Singapore Airlines standards.
Access+ Location
In terms of location, the Singapore Airlines SilverKris lounge is located only minutes further along in the terminal from the Plaza Premium First Lounge. Nearby to gate 5 in terminal 1, you will see the entrance to the SQ lounge.
Access is limited to people who fit the qualifying requirements:
Star Alliance Gold and above
Business Class passengers on outbound flights
Please note that Singapore Airlines isn't as lenient as other airlines in terms of arrival in business class and departing on an economy ticket when flying partners. When I was in London after flying Thai Airways First Class, I was rightfully denied access to the Singapore Airlines First Class Lounge.
The lounge between the following hours: 9:30 am- 8:00 pm.
The Lounge
The seating across the lounge certainly resembled the likes of something Singapore Airlines would install. I have heard that this lounge was recently renovated, and even the walkway to the lounge looked fresh and modern.
There was a bar serving a multitude of drinks, something that seems consistent across the Singapore Airlines Lounges. In terms of champagne, expect to see Mumm offered and a couple of low-quality red wines.
The lounge was 5 minutes from closing when I arrived; no wonder why it wasn't crowded at all😅. The seating was elegant and polished, but the lounge did feel a little claustrophobic with the low ceilings.
As seen with the above options, I love how many different types of seating Singapore Airlines offers. Whether you are a couple or with a family or just solo traveling, there are options for everyone.
International charging ports were at almost every seat. Certain lounges I have been recently in, haven't had this.
Just like that, the staff informed me to get out without even having time to photograph the food and drink offerings. Sorry! I'll be back in a few months to update the review!
Final Thoughts
The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge in Hong Kong is better than the Plaza Premium First Lounge next door. With good seating, a decent selection of food, friendly service, and a multitude of alcohol offerings, I could certainly spend a couple of hours here. However, the lounge is on the cramped side. I wouldn't recommend heading to the airport extra early to experience this lounge, but it's perfectly okay for a short duration!
