Quick Review: American Airlines Flagship Greenwich Business Class Lounge New York (JFK)
Intro
Following a Business class flight from Los Angeles to New York onboard the A321T, I decided to check out the American Airlines Flagship Business Class Lounge at JFK.
Overall, I would say the Flagship Lounge at JFK offers a decent experience for grabbing a bite to eat before your flight. My only issue with this lounge is the number of people that have access since OW carriers have now been condensed into (mostly) Terminal 8.
Location+Access
The Greenwich Lounge is located directly in front of you, and once you pass security, it's pretty hard to miss. If in transit, you will find the elevator or stairs by Gate number 12, pretty much just across from it.
Access is much like the Flagship Lounges in Miami and Los Angeles, with oneworld emerald/sapphire allowed in, international business class OW, international first-class OW, and transcon routes in J and F. However, if you are flying in First Class on a qualifying route, I would head over to the Chelsea Lounge.
Seating
There is a multitude of seating throughout the lounge with various different options. Upon entry, there is an elegant display of colors on this rounded table.
Other than that, there is bar type seating as well as dining tables.
However, much like the lounge in Los Angeles, it is a very open-aired concept to a lounge. This is apart from the small room to the right when you enter; this gives me Polaris vibes to a lounge.
Throughout my stay, this room remained relatively quiet and felt like an escape from reality. If you happen to spend some time here, this is the room I recommend you stay in. It is the "quiet room," but that just means indoor voices (not that everyone follows that🤨, which is greatly appreciated in an airport setting.
The seating aspect of the lounge is in between the Miami lounge and the Los Angeles lounge in terms of privacy and modernness.
My issue is the pictures from this lounge were taken after midnight. With the amount of people that pass by during the day, I've had times where it can be a challenge to find a seat.
Food & Drink
Similar to the other lounges, upon entering, there is a Piper Heidsick station offering customers a glass of champagne upon arrival into the lounge. There are also places to pour a glass for yourself around the lounge, as well as mid-shelf liquor.
In regards to food, the options were very similar, if not identical, to those offered in Los Angeles. Perhaps it was laid out a little more neatly.
After eating quite a bit throughout the day, I settled on a nice San Pellegrino. I love that San Pellegrino is offered in the lounges, although the bottles are still better🙃.
For those wondering, showers are offered as well, but I didn't have time to use them this time🥴.
Final Thoughts
The one thing I am impressed by is the consistency that American Airlines has brought across its lounges in the network. While the lounge was comfortable, and the food & drink were as good as always, it concerned me how busy the lounge was at midnight. With the likes of Qatar, Iberia, Cathay, American, British Airways, Finnair, and Qantas all being funneled into this lounge, I wouldn't be surprised to see another lounge open up soon.
Hey at least the CX lounge is opening soon!
