Intro
When it comes to low-cost carriers, there are lows, and then there are lows like this. I've gotta say Ryanair, was this really necessary?
The Details
A couple of weeks ago, a woman flying from Tenerife to Bristol decided to enjoy a couple of snacks that she thought she bought on the plane. She had already eaten the snacks on board when the flight attendants kept trying to process the onboard payment which kept getting declined.
Interestingly, it wasn't just her card that was getting declined, someone else also reported issues with the card machine.

So what happened after landing? Ryanair called ahead to Bristol airport and requested that the Police meet the lady upon landing and escort her to get the money. The police basically said 'What a waste of time', as the woman paid the money and was on her way to the parking lot to head home...
Only to find that her car had been damaged after all of that. To make matters worse, Ryanair has banned her for life! What a horrible day and I feel bad for this woman...
My Thoughts
I wanted to provide my quick opinion on this subject, as Ryanair handled this poorly (unlike their social media team which is great). In my opinion, this situation shouldn't have escalated the way it had in any way. In the worst-case scenario, the airline could have had an airline employee walk with the woman to the ATM, and not the police.
Look, I get that stealing is technically stealing, but we are talking about 7 GBP, and it was supposedly the airlines' fault over the card machine. Banning someone for life over this is ridiculous and in my opinion, should be rectified (even if it happened, I am not sure that this woman would choose Ryanair again).
Ryanair is a great airline that gets you from point A to point B at a very attractive price, but if you plan on flying them, be aware of the little pesky rules.
Final Thoughts
A couple of weeks ago, a woman traveling from Tenerife back to Bristol was escorted off the plane after the card machine declined onboard. With 7 GBP unpaid, Ryanair called ahead to make sure police met this woman at the plane, where she was escorted to the ATM to pay the remaining balance. To make matters worse, she is now banned for life. Ridiculous.
