Our New Friends At Four Seasons Desroches Island

Intro

As a whole, I wasn't the biggest fan of the Four Seasons Desroches Island, but we were thankfully able to meet some new friends (for better or worse). throughout our stay there.

Our New Friends

Typically, most people who visit the Four Seasons chain are more closed off compared to the likes of all-inclusive resorts, and after traveling the world extensively, I love talking to people. However, we came across a fascinating couple who made our stay at the Four Seasons a heap of enjoyment. Without them, I am not sure it would have been the same.

Waking up for the first time in Desroches, my mum and I headed off to breakfast when a couple came up to my mum and asked if she was okay. The man was from England and the woman was from Madagascar. My mum had just broken her wrist, and we got into a conversation for the next hour, and the next thing you know, they were offering her pain medication.

What was supposed to be a mother-and-son trip, soon turned into a group trip, as we became inseparable for the next few days. Whether it be meals or simply swimming, it turned into a group activity.

One afternoon, we even planned a huge beach day between us four, with my mum and the wife going on a snorkeling adventure, and Tony and I heading out fishing. It was the best of both worlds as the boys got to go to do boy stuff, and the women got to go to women's stuff and gossip 😅.

Don't get me wrong, we both had our own time to ourselves, but it was as if all of us just clicked perfectly. This was relatively new for my mum, as she is used to upscale resorts where stuff like this typically doesn't happen, but she ended up loving it!

But then we met even more friends on the last day. We got into some conversation with another lovely couple who frequently visits the FS Desroches, and the rest became history. I have nothing but high praises for everyone we met, as they all made this trip to the Seychelles very special, even with the poor service at the hotel.

If that wasn't enough, we have even made premeditated plans to meet up in Mauritius and Dubai this coming year. It's crazy to think that if my mum hadn't broken her wrist, and Tony hadn't spotted it, we never would have the friendships which we plan to keep forever. As Master Oogway says in Kung Fu Panda (I just watched it and it's on my mind)- "there are no such things as accidents".

So yeah, my piece of advice is to those who are extroverts, don't be afraid to talk to people when you are traveling, even at top-range hotels. Now this doesn't mean to get up in somebody's face and annoy them, but you never know who you might meet and the friendships you might gain.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to some of the guests we met at the Four Seasons Desroches Island, this trip went from decent to exceptional. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and if it wasn't for the sequence of events, we never would have met all of the people that we did. Moments don't last long, but memories last a lifetime. My advice: make those memories ❤️.

What I did fail to mention was that me and Tony also brought the worst out in each other 😂. Firmly off the piss most of the day, and that's a bit of an understatement. Hey, when on vacation right?
