My Libya Visa Has Been Approved
Intro
Back in the day, the tourist visa to Libya used to be one the most challenging visas to get in the whole world. However, Libya has a new system when it comes to visas, and it makes visiting this country a lot easier.
How I Got It
If you have been following this blog for a while, you might understand that I am attempting to become the youngest man to visit every country in the world. An opportunity recently came across my table to visit Libya for a couple of days, and I decided to jump on it.
The first hurdle for the Libya trip was getting a visa. In the past, you would have to visit a consulate, but there is now a new system in place: an e-visa. However, it is not as straightforward as simply applying for an E-Visa, as each part of the visa has to be meticulously curated.
No commas or periods are allowed (punctuation, basically)
The photo has to be edited to make sure the background is fully white
The system often says "busy", even if your information is correct
As a data point, it took four days from the initial application to when it was approved, which isn't bad at all.
So... Libya
For general safety reasons, I won't be mentioning the dates I am going to be in the country. However, I am very excited to visit Libya. I have heard fantastic things about the country, and it seems to be doing a lot better (safety-wise) in the past few hours.
The plan is to spend a few days around the capital, visiting Leptis Magna and a couple of other famous places. As much as I would love to head to the East of the country, I fear this won't be possible on my first visit. I cannot wait for this, and I am extremely excited.
Final Thoughts
Getting a visa to Libya used to be extremely challenging, but it has now become much easier. As long as one applies for the E-visa with everything needed (sponsor letter, sponsor passport, and such), it should come back within 3-10 business days (mine came back on a Sunday). I am super excited to head off to Libya, and cannot wait to write all about it on this blog 🙂. 🇱🇾
