Malaysian Airlines Launching Flights To Paris March 2025

Intro

Malaysian Airlines has been through the wringer in the past decade, with two 777s going down back in 2014 and having to rebuild that reputation. Even if I don't consider Malaysian Airlines to be among the top 10 carriers in Southeast Asia, I am excited that they will keep developing.

With that being said, Malaysian Airlines has just announced that they will begin flights to Paris in March 2025, utilizing an Airbus A350-900.

The Details

Starting March 22nd, 2025, Malaysian Airlines will begin 4x weekly service from Kuala Lumpur to Paris (CDG). Only throughout the first week will the route operate on a 4x weekly basis, while beginning the week after, the route will be upgraded to daily.

The schedule is as follows:

MH21: Kuala Lumpur-Paris departing at 11:40 PM and arriving at 6:40 AM (+1 day)

MH20: Paris-Kuala Lumpur departing at 11:25 AM and arriving at 6:10 AM (+1 day)

The flight is blocked in at just under 6500 miles, while the Westbound is roaming around 13 hours, and the eastbound sits around 12 hours and 40 minutes.

Malaysian Airlines currently has six A30s in its fleet, five belonging to them and another one acquired from SAS. The ordinary configuration is laid out with four business class plus suites, 35 business class seats, and 247 economy seats.

Flights have been put on sale, and economy fares sit around 830$ roundtrip, while business class fares are around 3,000$ roundtrip. Not bad at all.

My Thoughts

I recently had the chance to fly the Malaysian Airlines A350 from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo Narita, and it was a subpar experience (more on that soon). The lounge is a huge disappointment; I found the ground staff to be rude, and having a 1-2-2/1-2-1 configuration doesn't cut it for a modern airplane in business class.

The other issue I have is that Malaysian Airlines currently operates a fleet of six A350s. However, with twice daily service to Doha and London, once daily service to Tokyo, and now once daily service to Paris, how is this going to work? When I was flying from KUL to NRT, my flight was originally canceled due to mechanical issues on the A350. Later it was uncancelled... I do hope that one of those routes has a switch of aircraft or another plane is delivered. Otherwise, I would be wary of flying on the A350...

Other than those two issues, I am excited that Malaysian Airlines will bring their A350 to Paris. Economically, this makes the most sense for the airline in terms of new routes, and I am sure that the demand is there!

Final Thoughts

Starting March 22nd, 2025, Malaysian Airlines will begin nonstop flights to Paris Charles De Gaulle. For the "orientation week," expect this service to operate 4x weekly but later be upgraded to daily the following week. This will be another way to get from Southeast Asia to Paris!
