Korean Air Gets New Livery: Not Impressed
Intro
Korean Air recently finalized their merger with the other flag carrier of South Korea: Asiana. Well, it seems that the airline has quietly made headway with a new livery for the two airlines combined, and while it might make sense, I am not impressed.
The Details
In the past Korean Air has been known for their striking light blue livery which is featured on all of their aircrafts.

Well, on February 23rd, a 787-10 flew from Seoul to Busan to get a brand new paint job, later returning on March 9th back to Seoul in a brand new colorway.

There are two main differences from the old livery to the new livery. Firstly, Korean Air has now just become Korean, and secondly, there is no red anymore in the livery or the logo.
My Thoughts
When airlines come out with new liveries I am rarely a fan since I become accustomed to the older livery. However, some of them do really grow over time for me such as the United livery (not the old AA one, I love that).
However, this is a livery which I understand why it is happening, but I personally don’t like it. Considering the merger between the airlines, coming up with something more consistent with Korea makes more sense. It’s a fresh start for the airline and with that comes a fresh livery/logo.
Final Thoughts
Korean Air has just leaked their new livery as a 1 year old 787-10 returned back from Busan painted in a deep blue color. It’s safe to say that Korean Air should be becoming Korean, and it seems like there is a new logo for the airline following the merger!
