Jetblue To Open Lounges In New York/Boston 2025

Intro

Jetblue has constantly been one of the best ways to cross the USA, and debatably flying transatlantic. However, their business model has constantly lacked one aspect of the experience: lounges.

Jetblue plans to finally open a set of lounges in 2025, with New York and Boston being the confirmed destinations. Let's get into the details!

The Details

Jetblues first lounge to open will be in New York (JFK) at Terminal 5. The lounge will be 8,000 square feet, which is certainly on the smaller side. Later on, we will see Jetblue open its lounge at Boston Logan, terminal C, with a larger square footage of 11,000 square feet.

There are currently no renderings of the new Jetblue lounges, but here is how Jetblue describes the lounges to look:

  • Play: Unwind and socialize as JetBlue brings the ‘fun’ in functionality to the lounge experience while customers can also relax as mixologists shake and stir their favorite complimentary alcoholic  and non-alcoholic beverages at a full-service bar

  • Work: Stay connected and fully charged with private workspaces featuring fast and free Wi-Fi, an abundance of outlets to plug in, and free barista-made coffee bar beverages

  • Lounge: Enjoy familiar hospitality with complimentary food and beverage offerings; kick back alone or with groups throughout the lounge in comfortable, cozy seating areas

In terms of access, this is an area that has frankly surprised me. Eligibility is as follows:

  • Those flying Transatlantic in Mint (no JFK/BOS-LAX/SFO/SAN will not get access)

  • Mosaic 4 members will have access and also be allowed one guest

  • Those who buy an annual membership

  • Possibly day passes, subject to overcrowding

  • Those with the new Jetblue Credit Card that is being launched prior to the opening of the lounges

My Thoughts

Look, I love the fact that Jetblue will be opening two lounges at two of their biggest hubs. However, a couple of aspects really stand out to me. For starters, when flying from Coast to Coast, there are plenty of amazing options. Heck, American Airlines has Business Class, which grants Flagship Access, and First Class, which grants Chelsea Lounge Access with Krug! Delta, you get the Delta One Lounge, and United is the Club (Boo). Frankly, passengers flying Mint over 2000 Miles should be allowed access, in my eyes, with no guests.

Secondly, this feels a lot like a way to promote their new credit card instead of being directed at Mint customers. Jetblue has been pulling back on transatlantic routes for a variety of different reasons, meaning that most people eligible to access the lounge will be pay-to-play consumers. It's quite disappointing and doesn't feel very premium. It once again feels as if they are stuck in the vicious cycle of not knowing which business avenue to pursue.

However, with that being said, I am excited about these new lounges as they will open up slightly more competition out of JFK. Countless people I meet mention how nice it would be if Jetblue offered lounges. The only other thing I wonder is if Jetblue will allow lounge access to connecting passengers on arrival 😉.

Final Thoughts

Jetblue plans to launch two new lounges, one in New York (JFK) and the other in Boston Logan (BOS). Expect these both to come sometime in 2025, with New York being the first location to be opened. Although, in theory, these lounges are exciting, it's disappointing to see Jetblue not offering access to those seated in Mint on transactions.
