JetBlue is installing Domestic First Class Titled "Mini Mint"- Wohooo!
Intro
As the news hit the world yesterday, Jetblue decided to install a version of Mint on its aircraft that doesn't have Mini Mint. Having reviewed the real "mint product," this could be a great advance for Jetblue, which makes a lot of sense in terms of the way aviation is working at the moment.
Personally, I am very excited about this for a number of reasons. Let's get into it!
What Is Mini-Mint?
Before we start, US carriers have a tendency to change plans, so nothing is confirmed. However, the plan is to install the same seats that are found on the American Airlines domestic First Class, although I would expect them to be "less basic" than the American Airlines ones that look like this...
The issue with installing a cabin like this is how different it seems to Jetblue's model. That's why I wouldn't expect such a basic design for a cabin (not calling AA bad at all). When Mint originally came out, it was revolutionary. Heck, even Mint 2.0.
The one thing we can hopefully expect is much better food on Jetblue than on other carriers.
How Many Seats Are We Looking At?
As originally flagged by Live and Let's Fly, this is the seat count we would be looking at with the planes featuring "Mini Mint":
JetBlue Airbus A220s would feature 143 seats, including eight "Mini Mint" seats and 135 economy-class seats; these planes currently have 140 seats
JetBlue Airbus A320s would feature 162 seats, including 12 "Mini Mint" seats and 150 economy-class seats; these planes currently have 162 seats
JetBlue Airbus A321ceos would feature 198 seats, including 12 "Mini Mint" seats and 186 economy class seats; these planes currently have 200 seats
JetBlue Airbus A321neos would feature 200 seats, including 12 "Mini Mint" seats and 188 economy class seats; these planes currently have 200 seats
In order to add 3 rows of Mini-Mint (presumably), Jetblue is going to be cutting the pitch found in the economy to 30 inches. This is good for Jetblue as I feel like they need to start making some more money in comparison, as much as I like the boujee economy experience.
Jetblue is a fantastic carrier, and I think offering a Mini Mint cabin on its fleet is a fantastic idea. Say one is flying from Aruba (not including Saturdays)-New York-London and is invested in the TrueBlue program. Having to sit for 4 hours in the economy before connecting to London could be a slight "turn-off," as they might call it😅, instead of flying Delta in Business all the way through.
The only thing left that we need is lounges! I know, I know, they are expensive.
Final Thoughts
Rumor has it that Jetblue has decided to install its own version of Domestic First Class titled "Mini Mint" fleetwide. Expect the oldest planes to be re-configured first, with a similar layout to the American Airlines Domestic First Class in a 2-2 configuration across 3 rows.
All in all, this is a great development for Jetblue and exciting for certain consumers!
