If You Travel A Lot, A Second US Passport Might Be For You

Intro

I wanted to touch base on something that I have wanted to share for a while. If you read this blog, you might be someone who likes to travel a lot or has aspirations to (that's my guess). As someone who flies about 120-140 flights per year, I have started the process of getting a second US Passport. This might be what you should do as well!

What Is Required To Get One

Visas can be a pain, especially when it comes to the likes of Russia, Venezuela, Mali, etc. However, with a second passport, you could hand over one of your passports and still travel while waiting!

These are the eligibility guidelines for receiving one.

Guidelines For Second US Passport

With all of the restrictions set above, you might think that receiving one can be a challenge. Well, it requires little effort and little time, in fact. For sources I have spoken to, you write a 1-page letter stating that you will be traveling to multiple countries over the course of the next few months and, therefore, need a second passport for visas. Once you have the forms and letter writing, book an appointment online at your nearest agency and simply hand over the documents, pay the fee, and be on your way!

Another extremely useful benefit of having a second US Passport is in case one is stolen, seized, or lost. One instance occured to me at a certain immigration checkpoint in Africa where they asked me for money while my passport was in their hands. You never know what may happen.

Final Thoughts

Realistically, a second passport book isn't for most of the population. However, for the select few who could make do with this service, I highly recommend putting in the small amount of time and effort required to get it. It might just save your life and time in the long run🙂🙃.
