I'm Currently In One Of The Most Dangerous "States" In The Whole World...

Intro

Unfortunately, I have been overwhelmingly busy this current trip and haven't been able to stay up to date with what I have been looking to post (when at home, I try to post 2-3x per day). However, there is some light when I eventually get out of the tunnel, as I will write in-depth about my time in Myanmar, and more specifically, Shan State.

What Is It Like?

When most people think of Shan State, they might assume unlimited fields filled with opium and dens producing methamphetamines. However, it's not all of that, at least from my experience.

Shan State, Myanmar 🇲🇲

Most of the fighting at the moment is in the North of Shan State, meaning the southwest quadrant by Inle Lake remains relatively safe. We headed out for most of the day to Kalaw and really enjoyed our time, walking around local markets, enjoying an ice-cold beer at a local restaurant, and even enjoying coffee with some stellar views.

Now, I am not going to say that this place is perfect. Military checkpoints are a frequent occurrence, with them asking a couple of questions about what I am doing/where I am staying. However, I also understand why they are doing this, as very few foreigners visit.

Needless to say, I cannot wait to share this whole series with you ❤️.

Final Thoughts

While I am currently over-exhausted exploring a country that has been on my bucket list, I wanted to share a quick insight into a place that is rarely visited anymore. While I will not speak politically at all, Shan State is beautiful in terms of landscape. Stay tuned for this upcoming series, as I will soon be heading to Libya as well!
