How To Get A Visa To Rwanda 🇷🇼

Intro

Visiting new places around the world comes with a few worries and concerns. In this blog, I plan to let readers know how to obtain visas to all the countries I visit, and one that I would like to touch on is Rwanda.

Well, obtaining a visa to Rwanda is possibly one of the easiest countries to get into where you need a visa. Allow me to explain.

Visa On Arrival

From the official government of Rwanda:

Citizens of all countries are allowed to get visa upon arrival without prior application. Citizens of country members to the African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie can get free visas upon arrival in Rwanda for a visit of 30 days.

This means that when you arrive either at a land border or in Kigali, you simply present your passport to the officer, and you will be offered a series of options for your visa preference.

  • Single entry visa: 50$

  • Multiple entry vis:a 70$

Once you pay, and this can be done with a credit card at the Kigali airport, you will be issued a stamp displaying your visa for a 30-day period.

Multiple Entry Visa

Here is where I recommend that you obtain a multiple-entry visa if you are planning to visit Rwanda. Plenty of activities can take you across to Uganda, Burundi, or the DRC, even if you aren't planning it. For 20$ more, it is better for your peace of mind since it will relieve the process of having to get another visa when entering Rwanda again if you decide to leave.

If you are already planning to cross into Uganda or the DRC to see the gorillas, getting a multiple-entry visa is a no-brainer.

Final Thoughts

Getting a visa to enter Rwanda is extremely simple. When you enter through either land or Kigali airport, simply pay 50$ for a single entry visa or 70$ for a multiple entry visa, and you will be on your way in little time at all. The best part is almost zero corruption 😉.
