Heading To Bali? There Is A New Electronic Visa On Arrival System
Intro
In the past few years, Bali has had an uptick of arriving passengers on the island, and with a small airport, there have been times when immigration can take hours. Well, some good news is here as the Indonesian government has announced the new electronic Visa on Arrival system.
Let's break down all the details.
The Details
If you are planning a trip to Bali in the near future, head over to this website and fill out your information for a rapid arrival. Once on that page, click apply, and you will be directed to this information...
Most countries, if not all, are eligible, thanks to Indonesia being a neutral country.
Once that is all completed, you will have to fill out all of your information and upload pictures. Make sure these are in the correct format; otherwise, they won't be accepted. They can be done on an iPhone at home as long as they are formatted correctly.

You should complete this electronic visa request no earlier than 14 days before arrival in Denpasar and no later than 48 hours before arrival. Once the details are submitted, the 30-day visa is valid for 90 days.
Now the cost... On paper, the total comes out to 545,000 IDR. However, be aware that there are other fees that can be associated with this if you choose to book through a third-party service.
Lastly, here are a few more things to be aware of. Make sure your details are correct when applying because you will have to pay for a whole new visa if one small detail is incorrect (I learned this the hard way).
I would recommend this service instead of waiting behind countless people at Denpasar airport attempting to get a visa on arrival. I landed a few days ago and was out of the airport 8 minutes after deplaning (that includes the long walk).
Now, I can only write about my experience with Bali, but I assume that this also works for Jakarta. However, seeing as I haven't used this for Jakarta, I cannot provide insight.
Final Thoughts
With an overcrowded airport in Denpasar, Bali, the Indonesian government had to do something. Thankfully, there is a new electronic visa on-arrival system that will have you through in a matter of minutes. For 545K instead of 500K IDR, this is fantastic value which I highly recommend taking advatage of.
