Emirates New 777 Business Class Revealed

Intro

Emirates has had an uncompetitive 777 business-class product for countless years with angled flat seats and a middle seat😳! Emirates has come to terms with the fact that if it plans to compete with Qatar Airways in the Middle East for connecting traffic, it needs to have a better business-class product. Well the first new 777 has now been refurbished and is entering service shortly!

Let's get into it!

The Product

This might look familiar because it should. It is essentially the same new product as what is on the Emirates A380, with a few additional details.

Emirates 777 Refurbished Business Class

  • The updated Emirates 777s will feature 38 direct aisle access seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. This is a downgrade of four seats from the previously configured jets.

  • The new business class product is produced by Safran with 44 inches of pitch, 20.7 inches wide, and a lie-flat bed that converts into 78.6 inches long.

Similar to the A380, there will be a small mini-bar located next to the seat and a tablet. The mini-bar includes Perrier, Evian, and a couple of other drinks.

My Thoughts

Oof, where do we even start on this?

  • It's 2024, and Emirates is still releasing a product that is in the middle of the pack. No doors, lack of privacy, and only 38 seats on the 777's?

  • How does Emirates plan to compete with Qatar Airways? EK tends to charge the most of any carrier I have found in Business Class, yet has a subpar business class in comparison. Don't get me wrong, Emirates isn't bad, but it isn't anywhere close to Q Suites or ANA "the room."

  • It seems like EK is shooting themselves in the foot here. They estimate that each jet will take two weeks to reconfigure. By the time they are done, they will need to come out with a new business-class product to keep up with other Middle Eastern carriers. Even Oman Air has a better business-class product.

  • However, the one thing they have going for them is that their First Class is so good that it gets talked about nonstop on social media. Combine that with its repeat customers; they will still get the business.

  • They have all of the opportunities; I do not see why they don't decide to put out the best business-class hard product in the sky...

Installing The Game Changer

Emirates Emirates Emirates, would you kindly inform us if you plan to reconfigure the original 777s with the game changer?

Emirates Game Changer

Originally, the aviation world was informed that we would have to wait until the 777-9 before we got more aircraft with the "game changer." However, we are not sure if Emirates might be ready to install this badass product on its existing aircraft.

The first planes to have their business class re-configured are the new 777-300's. There are currently nine of them, so we probably won't know if the existing 777s will get the "game changer" for another couple of months.

Final Thoughts

Emirates has just unveiled their "new" business class, which isn't all that new. Emirates plans to configure all of its 777 fleet with what is basically on the A380.

The plane has just been done, but expect to see the whole rollout take north of a year, as each plane takes about 2 weeks.

In terms of the Game Changer, no plans have across indicating if it will or will not be installed on the exisiting 777's. However, we should have an idea in the next few months.
