Delta One Lounge Los Angeles Now Open!
Intro
Delta Airlines is in the works of bringing a new premium lounge experience to airports across the USA. While American Airlines has its Flagship Lounges, and United Airlines has its Polaris Lounges spread out across the USA, Delta has always fallen behind by offering its Sky Clubs to those in Delta One.
Recently, we have seen the unbelievable Delta One lounge open in New York earlier this year. That place is truly an unbelievable space and certainly sets the mood for what is to come when onboard. With that being said, as of October 10th, 2024, Delta has opened its second Delta One Lounge, and this time, it is in Los Angeles (LAX).
The Details
The brand new Delta One Lounge in Los Angeles is another beautiful space located in Terminal 3. With seating for 191 guests (much smaller than the JFK Lounge) and a space of just over 10,000 square feet, I am excited by this space. Another added benefit of the JFK lounge is that all terminals are connected airside, unlike if you were flying AF out of JFK, and then you would have to clear security and back to access the DL1 lounge.
The pictures are beautiful, especially the Skydeck:
Access
The rules for getting into the Delta One Lounge in Los Angeles are virtually identical to the ones I have reviewed in New York (JFK). These are as follows:
Same-day departing, arriving, or connecting passengers ticketed into Delta One. This can be cash, miles, or even upgrades.
Delta 360 member departing or arriving on a same-day first-class ticket (immediate family or two guests)
Same-day departing or connecting flights when booked into business class on Air France, LATAM, KLM, Korean Air, and Virgin Atlantic.
My Thoughts
It's interesting to see the second Delta One Lounge being opened in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is an interesting airport as it isn't controlled by one airline. United, American, and Delta all operate long-haul flights, and I think Delta needed to compete in this market with a premium lounge. While Boston and Seattle should be opening within the next 12 months, it sort of makes sense that they leaned towards Los Angeles and then focused on hubs they more or less control.
Aside from that, the new Delta One Lounge in Los Angeles looks stunning. It looks around the same space (size-wise) as the Polaris Lounge at LAX. The menu looks stunning, and having private security and direct access to the lounge creates a seamless experience.
Final Thoughts
As of October 10th, 2024, Delta Airlines has opened its second Delta One Lounge, and this time, it is in Los Angeles Terminal 3. I've gotta say, the pictures of the lounge look beautiful, the menu looks good, and how accessible it is is a big plus. With that being said, they need to sign a partnership with name-brand champagne, as United has Lanson, and America has Piper Heidsick. Personally, I am excited about this lounge as, finally, there is some competition from Delta in this market.
I'll try to make a visit up there soon to compare and contrast the two Delta One Lounges, but it might be a minute before I get the opportunity to do so as I am heading back to Africa and Asia for the rest of the year😉.
