Intro
In the past few years, we have seen Delta look to expand from its Los Angeles hub, with plans to launch a new destination down under, as well as Shanghai sometime in 2025. However, certain routes have become notoriously difficult to turn a profit, such as the London route, and another route has now fallen victim.
The Details
As of October 2025, Delta will no longer be operating the Los Angeles to Tahiti route. This route has operated seasonally since December 2022, on a 3x weekly basis.
The 4095-mile flight is expected to operate until June 7th, 2025, and then originally set to return on October 7th. However, it seems that Delta happens to be done with the route, as the flight is no longer on sale.

Why Is This Happening?
Tahiti is always going to be a difficult market to penetrate for a US carrier. With the likes of United, Air France, and Air Tahiti Nui flying direct from all over the West Coast to Tahiti, there simply just isn’t enough demand for a leisure destination.
And no, I am not just saying this since I am a United lover since United seems to be losing money on this route as well. In addition, Air France flies daily between Los Angeles and Tahiti, meaning there is no real need to keep this route operating at the moment, while you can let the more premium partner have the reigns.
Final Thoughts
Unfortunately, one of the four main carriers that flies from the United States to Tahiti is soon to be ending their 3x seasonal route. Starting from June 7th, Delta will no longer fly from LA to the beautiful French land, but Skyteam Flyers will still have the option of Air France.
