Coffee In Port Of Spain, Trinidad And Tobago
Intro
Once landing on the Caribbean Airlines 737 Max 8 from Georgetown (amazing flight), I had about 6 hours to kill under my next flight. Originally, the plan was to just head to the lounge, but the agents informed me that lounge access is only granted 3 hours before departure.
So, as the downtown area of Port of Spain is about 1.5 hours away in morning rush hour traffic, I struck a deal with a taxi driver to take me to a local coffee shop about 10 minutes away from the airport for 20$ roundtrip.
Coffee/Around The Airport Area
The taxi driver I met was a lovely guy who told me all about the situation in Trinidad at the moment. He also mentioned that there was this crazy white guy going around who apparently had been robbed about a week ago😅 (he was doing something dumb).
Anyway, there is a small community of shops about 10 minutes away from the airport, and that is where I found a coffee spot. The greenery of the country was incredible. I noticed it first when we were on final descent, but it really shows on land.
Eventually, we arrived at the little community of shops, and I enjoyed my coffee just as the shops were opening. Look, I didn't get to explore the country, but I am happy I got out and had a few conversations with locals to understand a little bit more about the country.
And then it was back to the airport where I ran into the crew from my flight before. They even offered to take a picture of me, which was a nice touch.
