Clothes Shopping In Hoi An: The Best In The World?
Intro
It was a packed time in Vietnam, with coconut boating, playing football against the government, and spending almost a whole day shopping in Hoi An; there was little time to rest.
Shopping in Hoi An was one of the most inspirational experiences I have ever had. Here I was, walking along a local market in a lesser-known country than Italy or Paris, yet the designs were incredible.
Let's get into what I am talking about:
Yaly Couture
My favorite spot to shop in Hoi An is called Yaly Couture. It might be on the high end for Vietnam, but a blazer I bought ran about 230 USD, which isn't bad at all considering prices overseas.
The best part is that Yaly Couture will tailor-make your suits or outfits within a couple of business days. Sadly, I didn't have time for this, but I enquired for readers.
Day 1: go over what you want, check the materials, and pay
Day 2-3: Fitting
Day 4-5: The product will be in hand.
Now something I recommend is not rushing this process since Vietnamese fabric is known to not be the best quality. Pay the pretty penny for the better fabric (which is still relatively cheap). The people on the street who can guarantee it the next day aren't going to be your best bet, even if it does sound appealing.
Through my shopping experience, I found that tailor-made shirts are about 70-80$, blouses about 100$, and a full suit about 300-400$.
The primary focus at Yaly is women's wear, but they do have a men's section.
This ended up being my biggest purchase at Yaly Couture, and it still is in great shape to this day (8 months later). A blazer of this quality would set me back upwards of a thousand dollars in the US, so just over 200 was a good deal in my book.
It's a shame it is dirty now, though😅.
Shoe Shopping
This is where Vietnam shines (pun intended). If you are looking for tailor-made shoes, then Vietnam is the place to make high-quality leather shoes (it's cheap). I managed two custom pairs overnighted for 120$ in total.
There are plenty of shops along the main street market in town. Just head to anyone, and they will be happy to help. They might try and get their sister to marry you, but welcome to Vietnam😂 (yes, it really did happen).
Basically, anything you need in Hoi An can be found on this street:
Final Thoughts
Having shopped in Paris, Milan, and New York, to name a few, I think Hoi An might be my favorite town in the world to go shopping. There are endless options with decent quality if you are willing to pay a bit more; just don't skimp out on the cheap stuff, as it won't last. Yaly Couture has some designs that could easily be in fashion week; it's that good. Make sure to get some shoes!
I had to buy a suitcase I bought so many clothes😂
