Cathay Pacific New First Class "Halo Suites", Everything We Know.
Intro
Cathay Pacific teased its new First Class concept named "Halo Suites" about 3/4 of a year ago. In this blog, I have yet to touch on it. So I thought it would be a good idea to get into it!
These First Class suites look fantastic. However, I have a couple of concerns, such as certification and timeline. Let's get into it!
Halo Suites 777-9
The 777-9 seems to be everyone's Flagship aircraft these days. Cathay Pacific, previously one of the most well-known airlines in the world, plans to install what might be the greatest First Class in the sky. Here are some renders of what it could be:
If this goes through, this would be the most revolutionary product coming to aviation since the beginning of lie-flat seats. This is perhaps the closest aspect that one can come to flying private. Here a couple of aspects why I don't think this will go through.
Hong Kong hasn't bounced back in the same way business-wise as before the pandemic; the demand for this product in terms of cash doesn't seem to be there.
How much space it would take up would mean they would have to charge a severe passenger surplus.
I see certification as a serious issue with this seat.
However, do I want it to go through? Yes, of course. I just don't see this as realistic. Only time shall tell.
Final Thoughts
Cathay Pacific has a new First Class coming to their Flagship aircraft, the 777-900. While the "Halo Suites" are just a rendering of what we might see, expect the First Class to be great none-the-less. However, if the Halo Suites really do come, expect award space to completety non-existent or close to that.
