Casbah Restaurant, Vilankulo, Mozambique
Intro
If there is one thing you should know about me, it's that I am a full-on creature of habit. When I find something I like, it takes a lot to persuade me from leaving that said thing. The same concept applies to restaurants, and that is exactly what happened with Casbah restaurant in Vilankulo. If you are looking for a good meal while watching the sunset in Vilankulo, look no further than Casbah at Casa Cabana Beach Resort.
The Experience
Located a quick five-minute walk from Christinas' Garden lies the lovely restaurant of Casbah. There are two main options for reaching Casbah; the first one is walking down the path from the Airbnb to the beach and then heading the other few minutes along the beach. Alternatively, there is a road that runs down to the beach, and from there, it is a minute's walk.
Once you arrive, it's pretty hard to miss. In no way is this some fancy place with tablecloths and fine dining presentation, but it has its beauty. With beachfront views overlooking the sunset, delicious food, a well-priced menu, and exceptional service, there is a reason why I come here every day.
All of the meat they sell is imported from South Africa, and it is delicious. Depending on the cut, you can get a steak for around 8 USD or 12-13 USD for a ribeye. Another nice part is that they take Rand, US Dollars, and Euros (as well as local currency, of course). Alternatively, you can pay by credit card as well (of course, for a small surcharge 😂 (welcome to Africa)).
It's not just a spot to grab some dinner but a place you can come to any time of the day. Casbah offers free and fantastic wifi to customers, so if you are a digital nomad, you can come here while working and drinking all day (I mean coffee, of course 😉).
Dogs are a large aspect of Vilankulo, and the restaurant is dog-friendly! It's always nice when they have a dog bowl for water at a place just as a choice.
Final Thoughts
If you are looking for a chilled-out beach restaurant with good prices, great food, and free wifi, look no further than Casbah in Vilankulo. There are plenty of options, but in my humble opinion, none better than Casbah.
