62 Dead In Plane Crash In Brazil

Intro

I'm quite speechless when it comes to matters like this. First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the loss of the 62 people onboard the flight that went down yesterday in Brazil.

Voepass, a Brazilian airline, had an ATR-72 go down near Sao Paulo yesterday, killing 58 passengers and 4 crew members.

What Happened?

Details remain scarce at the time as to why the plane entered a straight-down spiral near Sao Paolo. Here is what we do know:

• A Voepass ATR-72 was operating a scheduled flight from Cascavel to Sao Paulo, supposedly clocking in at just over 450 miles.

• Just around 1:20 pm, the plane was cruising at 17,000 feet when the flight deck lost control of the aircraft, leading to a corkscrew spiral spin.

• It is believed that the aircraft was descending at a rate of 10,000-24,000 feet per minute.

The world is in shock at the moment, and it will probably take some time to get answers to what occurred.

Usually, aviation is the safest form of transport (touch wood). They say that you are more likely to pass away driving to the airport than flying... However, accidents such as this Voepass one can happen.

Tragic

This is a truly tragic accident, and once again, I would like to say my thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's families and anyone else affected.

Reports have been out that 10 people supposedly missed the flight due to a gate change. Once they arrived at the gate, the agent wouldn't let them on. It goes to show that sometimes things happen in life for a reason.

To see a plane almost fall out of the sky as if you are stalling on a sim, but in real life, it is just something I can't grasp. There are plenty of videos on the internet if you are interested in seeing them, but I don't think it is morally right to share them on this blog.

Final Thoughts

A Voepass ATR-72 went down yesterday 50 miles away from Sao Paulo, killing all 62 passengers onboard. While details remain scarce, expect a full-blown investigation shortly.
